Equal Leadership in the Outdoors: A Conversation with Mardi Fuller

[20‑Feb‑2025] AMC board member Mardi Fuller advocates for racial equity through writing, speaking, and community building. A lifelong backcountry adventurer, she is the first known Black person to hike all 48 of New Hampshire's high peaks in winter.

Biden Signs Outdoor Recreation Bill Into Law

[12‑Jan‑2025] The Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences Act (EXPLORE) will expand opportunities for Americans in public outdoor spaces like national parks and forests. Its provisions include improved access for disabled people and military veterans, protections for rock climbing, and better access to public lands and waters.

$300,000 in Grants Awarded to Support Mountain Biking Trail System Development

[29‑Dec‑2024] In partnership with the New England Mountain Bike Association, three organizations have been awarded grants to build and maintain destination mountain biking trail systems that include accessibility features, offer scenic routes, and stimulate rural economies. Projects completed by grantees will feature adaptive mountain biking trails that can be enjoyed by riders using assistive devices.

Bill H.757: An Act Creating the Outdoor Recreation Program

[16‑Feb‑2023] The Outdoor Recreation Act would create a statewide dedicated fund to ensure the success of the new Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation and provide a grant for outdoor recreational purposes, with priority given to projects that benefit underserved and Environmental Justice populations across the Commonwealth.
