[30‑Aug‑2023] The phrase "once in a blue moon" is used to refer to something that doesn't happen very often. An actual blue moon, which is the second full moon in a month, happens about every 2 to 3 years. Tonight's super blue moon is even rarer, happening about every ten years.

Exciting News for Our Trails
[20‑Aug‑2023] The Healey-Driscoll Administration has announced $11 million in grant funding for 68 trail improvement projects around the Commonwealth, including a $60,000 grant to the Kestrel Land Trust. VIEW ARTICLE »
International Coastal Cleanup
[17‑Aug‑2023] Join the AMC NY-NoJ Chapter's Conservation Committee in environmental stewardship efforts for our local marine habitat. The purpose of this cleanup event is to remove plastic debris and other pollutants from our shoreline, preventing them from reaching the ocean and causing further harm. AMC Dollars at Work
[10‑Aug‑2023] The Trust for Public Land, in partnership with the National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, announces the conservation of 200 acres along the New England National Scenic Trail (NET) in Southwick, MA. Congress designated the NET a National Scenic Trail in 2009, and this purchase is the first federal acquisition for NET trail protection.
Women's Weekend Retreat

Let's Talk About Poop!
[04‑Aug‑2023] If you've ever had to use a pit privy, or latrine out in the woods, you know what an unpleasant experience it can be. AMC is working to replace the old pit privies with more environmentally-friendly moldering privies. We have just added this new initiative to our website to share with you how the chapter is working hard to support the mission of the AMC: to foster the protection, enjoyment and understanding of the outdoors.

Big Win for Climbers
[31‑Jul‑2023] Massachusetts climbers got a big win recently at Northfield Mountain in eastern Franklin County. With Access Fund's support, the Western Massachusetts Climbers' Coalition secured permanent conservation protection for Farley and Rose Ledges. The victory is another reminder that when climbing access is threatened, local climbing organizations are often the first and best line of defense. ACCESS FUND »

Tuesday Hikers
[13‑Jul‑2023] The Tuesday Hikers had a great time hiking at Cookson State Forest and the New Marlborough Land Trust on a dry and sunny day this week! Join us next Tuesday as we explore three reservoirs on the Robert Frost Trail in Pelham and Shutesbury.
A New Privy
[10‑Jul‑2023] Our volunteers were at it again last weekend, finishing up the new composting privy at the Richardson-Zlogar Cabin on Section 17 of the New England National Scenic Trail. They added a ramp and an accessible path to the privy.

[17‑Jun‑2023] This Monday, our country will celebrate Juneteenth for the third time. In 2021, President Joe Biden signed a bill passed by Congress declaring June 19th a federal holiday. We Are Water Protectors
[09‑Jun‑2023] This month's StoryWalk® at the Noble View Outdoor Center is "We Are Water Protectors". Come meander down the laurel-lined trail and read as you walk about a young girl who takes a stand to protect our most valuable resource. This is free and open to the public!
GO Day
[08‑Jun‑2023] Saturday is National Get Outdoors Day, or GO Day. Here in Western MA we have a variety of activities to help you get outdoors, a hike to Mt. Greylock, a trail maintenance outing, a paddling adventure and a bike ride. Come join us this weekend!
